Luis Mojica

Luis Mojica, Somatic Therapist & Nutritionist will be teaching during Wisdom & Wellbeing Week 10 | Multi-Faculty Trauma | March 6-13, 2027 on the following topic:

Food For Nervous System Regulation

Food holds the power to stimulate, depress, and balance our bodies, including the nervous system. This means the foods we eat can assist in stress and trauma recovery.

Luis will dive into key teachings from his book, Food Therapy, centered on understanding the body’s language of sensation, finding safety in yourself, and accessing greater nourishment through the magic of whole foods. When you learn how nutrition impacts your body, brain, and trauma responses, every food choice becomes an opportunity to shift your biochemistry and support your nervous system.

Luis will integrate somatic practices, trauma education, and accessible nutrition strategies during this session to help us understand cravings, emotional eating cycles, adrenal fatigue, and glucose imbalance — not as failures of willpower, but as intelligent survival adaptations. Weaving trauma-informed stories, demos, and Q&A, he will invite a new relationship with both your body and the food you eat.

INTENSIVE

He will also be leading an Intensive during Week 7 | February 13-20, 2027 about the following topic:

Finding Safety in Yourself

Safety comes from inside of our bodies.
Consider those times when your environment was peaceful or you were around loving people, yet your body was still bracing or experiencing anxiety. There was a good reason for this.

When we have experienced trauma or chronic stress, our bodies will live in a state of bracing from remembered and expected threat. Our nervous systems focus on what could go wrong instead of what is going right because the body is so focused on surviving that it doesn’t feel the reality of its survival.

A body in constriction or overwhelm is one that is trying to protect itself. Safety and joy can soften that protective constriction, which initially feels scary and even threatening to such a body. This is why we must slowly build our capacity for expansion and a more flexible nervous system.

This retreat will teach you the philosophy of somatics for healing stress and trauma through a holistic lens. We will explore sound, nature, co-regulation, guided somatic group practices, being seen, and relating to the body in new ways. You will learn how to feel safe in your body, nurture that state to grow and expand, and connect with other human beings, nature beings, and sound in a way that can deepen the experience of felt safety and joy.
