Teacher Bio

Darcy Hagerman believes that yoga helps us awaken to our true nature, our beauty and our worth. She believes that the practice helps us peel away layers of built up residue that get in the way of who we truly are. When we shed these layers, there is a remembering or an awakening of our highest self; a plugging into the person we want to be. She is dedicated to helping people learn how to move beyond the frequency of doubt and fear and into the frequency of trust and love in order to gain more power and perspective in their lives.
Darcy has been teaching for 15 years and is the owner of Saana Yoga. She has completed a variety of yoga trainings, including Moksha Yoga, Yoga Works Method, Ashtanga Yoga, Power Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Meditation. Blue Spirit holds a very special place in Darcy’s heart. This will be Darcy’s 10th year as a facilitator of this yoga retreat.

Jess Lemon has been teaching for 16 years. Passionate about learning and committed to continuing education, she has taken over 1,000 hours of training in a variety of yoga and Mindfulness studies including Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative Yoga and Meditation. Most recently, she completed her final Pilates training through Body Harmonics, allowing her to teach the full Pilates repertoire (on Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Springs and Barrels). She is especially excited by this combination of movement science and Mindfulness, as she feels it integrates right and left brain, asking us to pay attention to the little things while also remembering the bigger picture.
Jess teaches a strong and nourishing class with a focus on containment (supporting the joints through muscular activation), and compassionate self-inquiry. She is a very hands-on teacher who uses adjustments to help support her students ‘connect-the-dots’ in their own bodies. In her classes, she incorporates core strengthening and dynamic movement to build resiliency in the tissues, but balances the yang (effort) with the yin (ease) by giving equal attention to release and relaxation.
Jess feels that true learning happens when a person is seen and met where they are, then nurtured and encouraged on their own journey of self-discovery. She is a creative and spontaneous teacher, believing that when we are truly open and attuned to each moment, life is always offering wisdom.

Amanda Montgomery began teaching yoga in 2009 after more than 15 years of self-study and education in the healing arts of shiatsu, aromatherapy and herbal medicine.
Since that time, she has trained with internationally renowned teachers and received certification in Yin, Moksha, Prenatal, Restorative and Vinyasa styles of yoga. Most recently Amanda completed her training in Pilates and is working towards a specialist certificate in Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics.
She is most inspired by the body’s capacity to heal and believes that learning to “love the skin you’re in” is the foundation for living a joy-filled life. Amanda’s teaching is infused with humour, honesty and lots of nerdy anatomy tips.
Amanda loves the verdant green-ness of Costa Rica and soaks up as much of the jungle as she can when visiting the spectacular country.
